The Holy Family is a Gobelins tapestry woven in wool and silk, dated 1852-56.  Copying of paintings like Raphael's Holy Family, which this tapestry is after, formed a large part of the new work undertaken at the Gobelins tapestry manufactory in the nineteenth century. Napoleon III gave this tapestry to the South Kensington Museum (now the Victoria & Albert Museum) in recognition of the gracious welcome and assistance given by the officials of the Museum to the French Jury at the Universal Exhibition of 1862 in London.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Tapestry Wall Hangings are lined, interlined and weighted; they have a Velcro strip sewn along the top back edge and are supplied with a wooden batten, also fitted with Velcro strip, to attach to the wall (see image below).

All our Tapestry Wall Hangings are printed to order, with a lead time of 6 weeks.

Printed Linen Panels are supplied with a 2cm Mirror Bleed along each edge (see image below); this is not intended to be part of the finished design and should be turned back and hemmed.
